Halloween is coming...
Lots to look forward to this month and the next! We will be playing in The Ranelagh, Brighton on the 16th October, with the hirsute Bobby McGees (Actually only one of them is very hairy, but he makes up for everyone else). They will be filming their video and the theme is ZOMBIES. Dress up like us, and come down early if you want to be in the video! (For details email us back).
Then, it’s off to Birmingham again for a very special Halloween gig at the Island Bar with stRANGEtIME. We have a special costume idea for this one, and will be playing 2 or 3 completely NEW songs... lucky you.
We also have a new lyrics page on our website birdeatsbaby.co.uk, have a look inside the curious mind if Mishkin. Soon, you too can growl and shriek along to the album.
Garry’s birthday passed without too many casualties, thankfully. We sampled some fine Rum and some not-so-fine beers. Ella’s is next in early November, you may hear some terrible rumours. They’re all true.
Lots of new songs will be appearing on the set list soon. Strange as usual, here are some of the titles to look out for…
The Replacement - The new 'Hang Myself' but much much faster, and... different.
Enemies Like Me - This song is about fear and hypocrisy
Call Me A Liar - New song about God & The Devil
In November we will be supporting the fabulous ‘rock noir’ outfit Belladonna from Italy. It will be on the 26th November at The Garage, London so put in in your diaries!
New photos up from Pollstar Photography too...
These are from our show with the World Inferno Friendship Society in Brighton – those guys are incredible. You can view the rest of the pics HERE. Thanks to Polly for these beauties…
Finally, as a special treat, thanks to the multi-talented Si from the Brighton Bandstand, we now have some amazing new videos on Youtube. Go check them out, see what we did on our launch party, dressed as characters from Alice In Wonderland. Enjoy.
See you next time, hopefully we’ll have horrifying Halloween pictures and drunken tales of the night.
If you’re not following us on twitter you really should do – get status updates and our random thoughts first. Now Keely and Mishkin have ones too if you want to follow them as well as the band.

bird news from Keely...
Dear Birds,
Another month has flown by, leaving only a slight hangover and some dodgy pictures in its wake.
I won’t be sharing the pictures.
I will, however, tell you a little about some of our recent gigs. We had the pleasure of joining The Rohan Theatre Band on their, (his), last ever gig. He’s giving up the life of glamour to concentrate on his writing. Trousseaux captivated us that evening too, check them out here…
Last week three lovely Yanks stayed in the nest, by the name of Parker, Forrest and Judith, collectively The Alphabet (previously Pretty Balanced). They played with us at the Caroline Of Brunswick and were delightfully bizarre. We like them a lot, and one day we’ll invade their personal space somewhere in the middle of America. (Ohio anyone? Someone fetch me an atlas!)
Sandwiched between these two events was the lovely Philippa’s birthday. A sexy sandwich of chocolate cake and wine.
Then the real madness began, Dirty Cabaret, part of the I Am Joy Festival in Chichester. Thanks to Chris The ORGANAITOR, we were given free beer, chips, and placed in front of a baying crowd. By the time they’d seen the amazing Le Band Extraordinaire, and a saucy burlesque show, they were ready to go a bit nuts. And they did.
Most recently we shared a stage with Sweet Sweet Lies (briefly reduced to two, but slayed anyway), and The World Inferno/Friendship Society. Featuring some of the most frantic, energetic, virtuosic performances we’ve ever seen. As you can see, it left us grasping for superlatives.
Phew, don’t know about you, but I could do with a lie down. Sod that. Instead, we shall be working on new songs to flash at you in a suggestive manner. And hopefully, some tasty new pictures. Oh yes.
Stay tuned for our next adventure, same Bird-Time, Same Bird-Channel.

Treat number three: The Trouble - MUSIC VIDEO!
Treat number two: new song 'Rosary' for free download + video + more news!
Another little treat for you… a new song. Performed live and acoustically by Mishkin on piano and Philippa on electric drums. Ok, so the recording isn’t great quality and it’s a little different from our normal stuff but we thought you might like to hear it anyway – chair creaking noises and improvised drums included! We also filmed Mishkin on just piano if you want to check it out on youtube.
It’s called ‘Rosary’ and was originally performed at our first ever show but we decided to axe it from the album as it didn’t really fit in anywhere… we may re-work it one day… enjoy!
Download it free HERE
Watch it on youtube HERE
If you want lyrics, email us back!
In other news, our first music video is finished, yes finished. Finally! It will be out all over the internet on April 5th (if we’re organized enough!) and it’s all a bit exciting. The song we chose to film to is ‘The Trouble…’ which will be released as a download single around the same time and will feature on the upcoming album too.
Here are a few stills from the video just to get you intrigued…

And finally, we have received our first review of the unreleased album, which you can read here – it’s a stunner, we couldn’t be happier with the response!
Any questions about the album, band, video, anything, just email us back! We'd love to hear from you.
Love & Feathers from the nest,

A treat! The first of many...
Spring is on the way! And so is our album… it looks beautiful, we’ve just finished getting them pressed, printed and lovingly put together. Here She Comes-a-Tumblin’ will be available to buy in all good shops around the end of May or beginning of June (depending on how quickly we organize ourselves!)
In the meantime, we’re preparing seven little treats, which will be released in the run up to the album launch. The first of these is here now! Today Mishkin got together with Mr Jimmy McGee (from the Bobby McGees – look them up their like so famous) to do a special recording of the song ‘Miserable’. Some of you who’ve managed to see us live may know this one, some of you may not… Anyhoo, this cover has been recorded and produced by Mr Jimmy McGee and played on a Banjo Ukulele (which up until today I did not know existed!)
Here’s a link to our myspace where you can listen to it, and we also made a little video of it which you can watch here
The full version of this song will also be coming out on the album, but we thought you might like a little preview. Hope you enjoy! Let us know what you think! Next treat coming soon…
Love & Feathers,
Birdeatsbaby x
PS - We’ve put our stuff up on the Road to V website, if you’d like to vote for us to play the festival this year that would be much appreciated! The link is here. Thank you!

News from the nest... it's been a while!
I know you haven't heard much more than a peep out of us since before Christmas but fear not... we have been very very busy writing, practising and working our arse's off to bring you a fantastic new live show that will blow your little emo socks off!
New album Here She Comes a Tumblin is set for release May 29th, with the launch party being held at the lovely Marlborough Little Theatre, Brighton... more news on that soon but we are sooooooo excited to have our first full release happening!!!
Our first music video will be here by the start of March if not before and it is looking pretty fucking amazing already! A little editing here and there, less of Mish's bad and drunken dancing moves and we're there! We can tell you that it will go with a new song from the album, entitled The Trouble... and it is very dark and twisted....
Those of you have seen us live or have our old EP will know the song, we can't wait to release it for the rest of you!
Starting in March, we will be releasing weekly treats in the run up to the album - a mixture of unheard songs, videos, interviews, photos, freebies, etc so watch this space. In the meantime, we have now joined twitter so tweet fucking tweet, follow us there for immediate news feeds!
T-shirts and stickers coming soon too, oh you lucky birdies... and I look forward to seeing most of you on tour in June/July!

Mishkin & Philippa in the USA
Hello Birds,
For the last 3 weeks 'El Felipe' (a friendly Mexican and travelling companion/drummer) and Mishkin have been travelling around the States, spreading the music (sort of) and 'fun' of Birdeatsbaby.
We met some incredible people, saw some amazing things, ate a twinkie which was gross and actually managed to play a set or two, but I'll let the pictures do the talking…
SAN FRANCISCO:
Us on the Golden Gate Bridge… beautiful!

LAS VEGAS:
Us by the water fountains that synchronised with Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'… it was a romantic moment…

VENICE, LA:
Here we played a 'gig' in Venice Beach Hostel, the best place to stay at with the craziest (but loveliest) people!

HOLLYWOOD:
Here we played a song at The Kat Klub where we hung out with rock stars including Michael Kinney from Iron Maiden… he was so lovely!

BOSTON:
We hooked up with Mr Brian Viglione (Dresden Dolls/World Inferno Friendship Society) who shows us around Boston very kindly and fed us banana french toast… thank you Brian!

and finally… NEW YORK where we ate pretzels, went to art galleries and partied hard in 'Lower East Side' cos we're so damn cool...
It's good to be back though – now the five of us are back together we are writing new material and have a couple of music videos in the pipeline… I also hear rumours of our first album release and a tour next year… Lots more news coming soon!

Bluebunny Review
A stunning review from the Bluesbunny? We're through to the semi-finals of Surface Unsigned?? How can this be?? Well, after such a terrible experience in Ipswich, I think the band deserves a good turn... enjoy!
BLUESBUNNY REVIEW:
"As you might imagine, Bluesbunny receives a lot of albums through the post. The vast majority of them come (unsurprisingly) in Jiffy bags. This EP from Brighton band Bird Eats Baby came in a black envelope. Opening the envelope with our customary disregard for technique caused the room to fill with black and red feathers. As we picked said feathers from our plate of chocolate digestives, we pondered the previously unconsidered health and safety issues of being a reviewer.
Safety issues were soon forgotten as we put the EP into the trusty CD player. Well, you get three tracks on this EP. Each one of them could be part of some deranged cabaret show at the Kit-Kat Club. Dramatic, even camp, these three songs show an imagination so often lacking today. The first song, "China Doll", is powered by a pumping piano and features a remarkably effective and melodramatic use of dual female vocals. Likewise, "I Always Hang Myself" is cleverly and subtly arranged but still manages to reek of cigar smoke and decadence. Going wildly over the top in best show tune fashion is "Shiver up the Spine" with the clarion call of "… a man is just a man" fading us out into the deathly silence of the night. That mournful violin just seemed so appropriate too.
It is good to see a sense of the dramatic in a band. Too often these days style is confused with expensive haircuts and Rolex watches. Bird Eats Baby have style aplenty and the musical abilities to back it up as well. Bluesbunny is very impressed both with the band's music and even with the actual recorded sound. Perhaps there will be an album soon? We hope so. For now, surely it is time for another bottle of champagne. And another song."

I would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted/came to gig/supported us at round two of Surface Unsigned - it was an awesome show and we can't do it without you, so thank you!!
Love Birdeatsbaby x
