Another drummer flies the nest… bon voyage Charlie!

Dear Birds,

Ok… we’ve been putting off this news for sometime now as, well, we’re gutted. Here goes…

Charlie is leaving the birds to go travelling around the world after he completes his degree this Summer. We have a mere month left with his awesome drumming skills until he skiddadles back to the Isle of Wight to begin planning his round-the-world trip. It’s been an amazing year with him and we will be so very sad to see him go. :(

If you want to catch our last shows with him they are the 13th April @ PsychoSocial in Brighton (with Pink Narcissus) and 27th April @ The Purple Turtle in London (with Joe Black and Ribbon). We are going to party hard (as usual) so come join us and see him off by buying him a drink!

If you can’t make it to the shows, and would like to continue to keep in touch with Mister Reith-Pert he has a tumblr blog here and another band, Godard here for you to listen to.

We have a photo tribute for him, the highs and lows of Charlie’s time with us. It’s been amazing. We are going to miss you so much! Bon Voyage!!!

Charlie Reith-Pert

Charlie’s amazing dress sense never failed to amuse Garry

Doing what he does best. And with smoke machines…

Chilling with Spence in the USA

Getting cosy with Ronald

Pretending he’s a badass

Evil snare face

Charlie was always keen on the DIY

Charlie never properly embraced the steampunk look

OMG it’s Philippa 2.0!

Bye bye Charlie, we’ll miss you x x x x

~

Our new member is to be revealed over the next couple of days. We can tell you it is a lady drummer though….

‘Feast of Hammers’ out TODAY!

Dearest Birds…

As I’m sure most of you know, this album has been a long time coming… but FINALLY, ‘Feast of Hammers’ is out today! YES!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the launch parties, both nights were a huge success despite several moments of disaster that nearly prevented us from playing! …but that is another story. Many thanks to Annaca and She Makes War who were both incredible! If you were there and have photos/videos from the night and would like to share them please please upload them to our FACEBOOK PAGE or EMAIL US.

This is our second full length album ever, produced by Jason Rubal and we could not be more proud. Thank you to everyone who was involved in it’s creation – it’s been an amazing process, watching all the songs take shape, right up to putting the finishing touches on the album artwork.

So far we’ve had some incredible coverage including a write up in The Independent from Simon Price which we are incredibly chuffed about, as well as being hailed the ‘Critics Choice for 2012′! You can read all about the other reviews here on our press page. If you are interested in reviewing us for your blog or website please get in touch! :)

The CD (with a beautiful lyric book insert) is available to buy direct from us HERE.

Artwork by Sam Steele.

We urge those of you who are downloading (which I assume is most of you) to purchase it directly from us if you can – that way we as a band will receive all of the funds rather than a smaller percentage. You can do that HERE.

If however you wish to purchase somewhere else, ‘Feast of Hammers’ is available from the following digital stores…

It may take a while to filter through to other music sites such as napster, spotify and rhapsody, but any problems please contact us.
We also have a huge range of tasty merchandise which is on sale now… t-shirts, hotpants, hoodies and a whole bunch of other stuff is available in the Birdeatsbaby Shop.

And of course… the most important thing you could possibly do…. is to SHARE OUR MUSIC WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW! We only survive because of your constant support.

THANK YOU BIRDS. WE LOVE YOU.

INCITATUS. THE MUSIC VIDEO. OUT NOW.

Dear Birds,

Thank you for always waiting so patiently…

We are about to reveal is the final music video from the ‘Feast of Hammers’ album before it comes out in a just a couple of weeks time.

OH MY GOD WE ARE SO EXCITED.

The single ‘Incitatus’ officially comes out on Monday 6th via digital download only so don’t forget to grab a copy then! You can get it from our itunes, bandcamp, most other stores and probably illegally from some places too! Best place as always is our official shop as the monies goes straight to our drinking fund, er I mean, business.

There will also be a b-side remix from Avon Bosco which he describes as an ‘atmospheric stomper’ so we are very much looking forward to revealing that too!

Also, check out the beautiful artwork by mister Sam Steele.

So, we had a LOT of fun making this music video and it took a LOT of time and preparation too. Special thanks goes to Polly Harvey and Ben Wallace for their amazing generosity and basically letting us invade their lives for a weekend, and of course to co-directors Dominic Stoate and Tom Marcham. Our resident merch lady too Shirley Andrews also helped us out with the costumes.

Here is a pic of her rocking a pair of Incitatus hot pants.

Ok then… enough teasing… you can watch the video up on YouTube HERE and PLEASE don’t forget to share it!

The album is now available to pre-order at our shop along with a whole range of brand new merchandise

…so go have a peek after the music video HERE and don’t forget you can still buy tickets for our album launch party at The Underbelly, London on 18th Feb with She Makes War HERE.

Finally, anyone from Rome? Mishkin will be playing a solo show TONIGHT at Club Vicious

…so get your arses down there to watch her perform solo and BEB material. Details HERE. You can follow her personal blog HERE.

For the meantime… you only have 17 days until THE ALBUM IS RELEASED…. and then we plan to TOUR TOUR TOUR.

More news soon.

Merry Christmas from the birds…

Festive greetings from the Nest!

I hope this time of year has you feeling all Christmassy! It’s been such an epic year with Birdeatsbaby we felt it only fair to write a monster blog to remind you of some of the great and wonderful moments of 2011… I hope it’s been a great year for you all too :)

We’re hoping 2012 will see us continue to grow and change as a band and mostly looking forward to releasing our second full length album ‘Feast of Hammers’! It will be out in just over 8 weeks… so so soon…

Ok, so how do we sum up 2011? We’ll do our best…

JANUARY
Our original drummer Philippa left the band to pursue her film making career (check out her awesome stuff here). We plan on working on some new music videos with her very soon :D

…and our new drummer Charlie joined the flock… our new line up looked a little bit like this:

FEBRUARY
Music video for our song Rosary is released, directed by Dominic William Stoate. Watch it here.

We filmed this in his garage on a FREEZING cold day in January. One white dress was suitably ruined and everyone thought we were filming a porno! However, it does look beautiful. Watch the out-takes here. We still have some of the original rorschach images painted by Kelly Mariot, is anyone interested in receiving one? Let us know!

MARCH
We flew to America for the first time as a band to record our album ‘Feast of Hammers’ with the incredible JASON RUBAL at Seventh Wave Studios, PA. This was AMAZING. And SO much fun. We also did four shows with This Way To The Egress and Mister Joe Black. Read the full blog about it here.

Garry and Mishkin with Jason and Michelle, Pennsylvania.

Us drunk in a photobooth, New York.

APRIL
We conducted our first video interview where our fans asked the questions… watch it here.

MAY and JUNE was spent playing many gigs including the Meadowlands festival, and we also created the first of our Acoustic Sessions. You can watch them all HERE.

JULY
We went to ROMA to play the Rock City festival with Belladonna…we should be returning to Rome very soon!

…played the Secret Garden Party where Mishkin met her double…

…and Charlie dressed as a dinosaur…

In AUGUST we released another music video and the first single from the new album, Through Ten Walls. If you haven’t seen it yet, GAH! WATCH IT NOW.

We also played with the fantastic Jason Webley in Brighton… watch us covering Leonard Cohen with him here

SEPTEMBER we filmed the unforgettable FEAST OF HAMMERS music video, if you haven’t yet seen it, watch it here… Here is us with all the crew and actors, thank you to all of you!

OCTOBER
We played with several amazing artists, most memorable was Pink Narcissus and A Genuine Freakshow. We also did a mini tour of Ireland over Halloween! We dressed as zombies, of course.

NOVEMBER
We played with She Makes War (incredible solo artist), who we will be playing with again at our ‘Feast of Hammers’ launch party in February. Tickets available HERE.
We also had a live session with Tony Marks on Juice FM.

DECEMBER
We played our final show of the year with The Midnight Lycan Party. And got exceptionally drunk.

We are frankly, exhausted.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s come out to see us this and supported us this year. It’s been incredible, and next year promises to be even better.

As a special Christmas gift to you, we’re revealing a very special acoustic version of one of our new songs, ‘ANCHOR’ as a live music video. You can watch it HERE.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love,

Birdeatsbaby x

December…

Hello birds!

What a hectic month November has been… thought it was time to send out a little newsletter to let you know how things are in bird-land…

We kicked off November with a killer gig at the Half Moon, Herne Hill with She Makes War (a fabulous solo artist who will be playing with us at our album launch in February). It ended with some fireworks and plenty of jagerbombs. Classic birdeatsbaby style.

Later that month we were lucky enough to have a live session on Brighton’s Juice FM with Tony Marks. You can still listen again to us chatting with Tony and playing a very special version of Rosary with extra double bass and drums HERE.

We’ve also begun to gig our new single ‘Incitatus’ which sees us taking an even heavier direction with Garry using distortion for his bass guitar. Apparently this setting = face-melting.

Speaking of our new single… we’ve made a new music video at an incredible location thanks to Polly Harvey (amazing photograher and lady) and Ben Wallace who very kindly let us take over their home, studio and lives for a weekend. I sincerely hope they have recovered! This is ONLY photo I have from one of the nights, so it must have been fun!
The music video for Incitatus will be out in January, please brace yourselves! It is possibly the most ambitious song and video we’ve ever done… here is a little teaser, we’ll be releasing a couple more over December to keep you going! ;)
November finished with a show at The George in London (lovely venue) with Rasp Thorne and The Briars where we witnessed our first Birdeatsbaby tattoo – AWESOME.
…and we also played the Juice FM showcase in Brighton where this photo was taken. ROAR.
Read the review of the show HERE.

Finally, our next (and FINAL) gig of 2011 will be with the incredible MIDNIGHT LYCAN PARTY up in Stoke at The Rigger. It will be amazing to be reunited with this band after 3 years, we are VERY excited so do come along and see us before the year is out. Details all HERE.

I hope you have a fantastic run-up to Christmas, we’ll be in touch soon with more news… Don’t forget you can buy tickets for our album launch party in February HERE.

Love & Feathers,

Birdeatsbaby x

News from The Nest – November 2011

Dearest Birds,

I hope you all had a very happy Halloween! We have been ridicuolously busy at The Nest, running around the country and of course our first show-dates in Ireland! November promises to be a very busy month too…

Ireland was awesome, thank you to all who came down to the shows and made them so memorable for us. Belfast – you were rowdy, drunk and loud, we liked it. Dublin you were… not so loud but exceptionally well dressed, with some AMAZING costumes!

A special thank you to everyone who lent us equipment, gave us somewhere to sleep and fed us :) Stephen Jack (who also made all our costumes for the Feast of Hammers video),  Elder Roche (I have massive piano envy), Sons of Robert Mitchum, the Keely McDonald clan, Cooper & Mariska and Iarla. THANK YOU X X X

Here are some of our favorite pics from the shows/after-parties…

I’m invited to the Feast of Hammers…MUSIC VIDEO

Hello birds…

We would like to present you with our latest music video, ‘Feast of Hammers’…. but first, we must tell you a few things about the video and single:

This is the title track for our album, Feast of Hammers which is due for release Feb 2012.

This is quite different from anything else we’ve ever done before, both in sound and image.

We spent several days out in the woods making this and are very proud… BUT, as the nature of the song suggests, it is an aggressive and rather dark music video so please view with discretion!

We have made two versions of this video… one for you horror fans… and one for you sensitive flowers… YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

As this is going to be the main song from our upcoming album, we would SO much appreciate if you can share this across your twitter/facebook/youtube/tumblr/blog as much as possible! There is a small chance YouTube might put an ‘over 18s’ rating on it so please share on appropriate sites/places. If you’re sharing on twitter, please use the hashtags #feastofhammers and #birdeatsbaby. If you’re sharing on facebook, please be sure to link it back to our band page @birdeatsbaby. Also changing your status to ‘I’m invited to the Feast of Hammers’ with a share of the video will help us create some much needed buzz… and THANK YOU. Without you, there is no us.

And of course… please tell us your thoughts and comments, we love to hear from you :)
