Dear Birds,
Greetings from the Nest! We have a lot going on as usual so it’s time for a bit of an epic bird-blog.
It’s been a short while since we returned from our amazing adventure in the states… and it’s just about time we told you all about it. So, grab of cup of tea (or a pint) and settle down for a monster blog with some exciting news, some important dates and some rather incriminating photos…
GOD BLESS AMERICA:
This map is the entire route we travelled. By car. Yes, car. Not luxury motorhome or winnebago. Rental car. 14,000 miles in total, 25 states and 15 shows. EPIC.
We spent much of our time travelling, staring out at endless roads and trying not to go mad. Sometimes the scenery was green and lush like England (the rain did follow us for the first few days), sometimes there were mountains, and sometimes it was completely flat and dry. It was gorgeous though, America has some truly beautiful countryside…
San Diego and Seattle were very welcoming places that reminded us of Brighton.

New York had delicious doughnuts…

Boston’s Cloud Club was the most unusual place we played, but one of the best…

…we only got pulled over by police twice, once in Texas and once in Nevada (where we got a speeding ticket) but both policemen were very polite and not so scary like they are in films… I think the British accents and ‘I’m terribly sorry officer were we really doing 90? We’re just crazy Europeans who don’t know the laws, oops!’ kind of helped…
Garry tried to blend in with the locals…
…in the desert our roof-rack got blown off by a huge truck and bounced off the back of the car taking our luggage with it! Fortunately nothing (and no-one) was harmed (just a wee dent of two on our rental car) but it was an epic fail…
(Mish demonstrates epic fail)
The Americans took care of us well, people were sweet and hospitable, and always complimented our accents… We swapped swear-words and learned a few new ones, and apparently some of you are flying over to the UK to see us soon!
Hopefully these guys…
This was taken in Spokane, WA. These people knew how to party.
A MASSIVE thanks goes to our gorgeous merch-lady, Shirley Tuppence, who helped us to sell out of everything we brought with us… and for covering most of America with our bumper stickers.

Here she is stickering a half-dressed cowboy. Good times…
We’ve just about recovered, although I think it has shaved years off our lives… we loved every minute and would like to thank each and every person we met along the way. We shared the stage with some incredible artists, a few of our favourites are
This Way To The Egress,
Tristan Allen,
The Sneaky Mister,
Syrrah,
Extraordinary Contraptions,
Crystal Bright,
Glass Delirium,
London Below,
Harlequin Jones,
The City We Live In,
Blvd Park,
Gunstreet Glory and
Victoria & The Vaudevillains…
Thank you to everyone who housed us, fed us and gave us booze. We will never forget you. And we shall return.
If you’d like to watch any of the video diaries, they are all up on our YouTube
here and to see us performing live in San Diego go
here.
So… what’s next? We’re off to Europe in 10 days so don’t miss us there.
