Dear birds,
It’s about bloody time we blogged about what’s been going on in bird-land…as there has been LOTS happening!
This last month of March (and some of February too) has been the most exciting and amazing time we’ve had as a band so far. In case you haven’t been keeping up with the bird news (now honestly wtf where have you been?), we have been out in America for some time MAKING THE NEW ALBUM. It has been an incredible (and somewhat drunken) experience with the awesome Jason Rubal at his beautiful studio, Seventh Wave in Harrisburg, PA. We stayed there for 3 weeks, tirelessly working day and night
to make this wonderful album for you guys! We’ve decided to call ‘Feast of Hammers’. It won’t be out for a while yet… but we promise you it fucking rocks. Expect amazingness!
Before that we were gallivanting along the East Coast playing shows with This Way To The Egress and our very own Mister Joe Black. It was incredible. It was emotional. In a good way. We are very grateful to TWTTE for lending us their musical instruments, giving us places to sleep and being so lovely to us. THANK YOU
For those of you on the North, South, West Coast and in between states…we are planning to return roughly this time next year for a more extensive tour so please do not be sad we didn’t make it over to you this time for we shall return
Right! Rather than rambling through the entire tour/recording we will just name some new life experiences we have gained since being in America: We drove through a snow storm, drank neat Gin, ate $25 steak, adopted a flamingo (and named it Spencer), partied with a Harvard professor, fired guns, met strippers, consumed several cases of Colt 45 and discovered Hershey’s Sweet Sweet World of Chocolate. Just to name a few. All the good stuff that rock stars should really do! To see em all, go to our facebook page and have a gander through the pics! Here’s just a few for now…expect a video soon too…

On stage in Vermont

Charlie shows Ronald exactly how much he loves the Big Mac.

This is Ruth who we stayed with in Boston. She gave us LOTS of tequila

Entering New York with excitment…

central New York City, enjoying the sun and trying not to stand out as tourists. Fail.

Keely gets serious. Don’t fuck with the birds.

American Peanut-butter-and-chocolate cupcakes. If you love us, you will make these and bring them to our shows. PLEASE!

Jason and Garry throw down a few Troeg’s at the Brewery…

Keely chooses the $15,000 dollar violin of her dreams for the record…

…and Mish plays a baby grand (many many thanks to Sherri Mullen)

Garry opens beers the American way!

Just before we left to go home Jason and his lovely wife Michelle took us to a proper American diner for one last feed.
Thank you to everyone who helped us along this wonderous journey. We will never forget it.
Love, Mishkin, Keely, Garry and Charlie x x x
